Carlson Gracie Polk County Summer Superfight Showdown: 

Official Rules 3 Man Team Ruleset General Rules 

  1. Event Type: This is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) GI event.
  2. Team Composition:Each gym is required to submit two teams. Each team must consist of white and blue belts only. Each team must include at least one white belt. 
  3. Match Duration: Matches are 4 minutes long.
  4. Match Format: Submission only.If a submission occurs, the winner is declared for that match. If no submission occurs by the end of the 4-minute match, both competitors are disqualified for that round. 
  5. Final Competitors:If the match is between the last remaining competitor from each team, a 1-minute takedown challenge will determine the winner. The first competitor to achieve a takedown wins the match. 

 Competition Structure 

  • Team Matches: Each round will feature matches between team members from opposing gyms.
  • Round Disqualification: Failure to submit within the allotted 4 minutes results in the disqualification of both competitors from that round.
  • Advancing: Teams advance based on the performance of their members, with the objective of securing the most individual match victories.

 Conduct and Compliance 

  • Uniform: All competitors must wear a traditional BJJ GI.
  • Respect and Sportsmanship: Competitors must display respect and sportsmanship at all times. Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in disqualification.
  • Safety: Referees have the authority to stop a match if they believe a competitor is in danger or unable to continue safely.

 Match Rules 

  1. Submission Only:Submissions can be achieved through any legal BJJ techniques. Illegal techniques (e.g., heel hooks, cervical locks) are prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification. 
  2. Takedown Challenge:If no submission occurs and it is the final competitor for each team, a 1-minute takedown challenge will commence. The first competitor to achieve a takedown wins the match. 

 Judging and Scoring 

  • Referee Decisions: All matches are overseen by a qualified referee whose decisions are final.
  • Scoring: Victory is determined by submission or, in the case of the final competitors, by the first takedown.

 Superfights at the Carlson Gracie Polk County Summer Superfight Showdown Superfight Rules 

  1. Event Type: Each superfight is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu GI or No GI match. Selected by competitors.
  2. Match Duration: Each superfight consists of a single 5-minute round.
  3. Match Format: Submission only. Victory is achieved through a successful submission. If no submission occurs by the end of the 5-minute round, the match is declared a draw. 

 Superfight Structure 

  • Competitor Selection: Competitors for the superfights are selected based on skill level and competitive history to ensure exciting and challenging matches.
  • No Points, No Judges: There are no points awarded, and no judges’ decisions. The only way to win is by submitting the opponent.

 Conduct and Compliance 

  • Uniform: All competitors must wear a traditional BJJ GI.
  • Respect and Sportsmanship: Competitors must display respect and sportsmanship at all times. Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in disqualification.

 Additional Rules 

  • Health and Safety Checks: All competitors must pass a health and safety check prior to competing.
  • Weight Classes: Competitors should be matched within similar weight classes to ensure fair competition.
